Chagrin Valley Engineering Ltd. (CVE) and the City of Maple Heights worked to implement a funding plan for the design and construction of the Milan-Harlen Sewer Improvement.

The plan included the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works, the Ohio Public Works Commission, and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.

CVE coordinated the purchase and transfer of property required to expand the sewer easement to a 40 feet width allowing the new sewer to be constructed while maintaining the majority of existing sanitary sewer intact.

This effort resulted in an estimated $70,000.00 savings by reducing bypass pumping requirements.

The project is reducing the overall volume of inflow and infiltration into the sanitary sewer system and the release of sanitary sewage into the environment.

After the project was completed, the e coli count went from 1,553,100 in 2018 to just 422 in 2019.
