CVE Partners with Cleveland Metroparks on RAISE Project

RAISE East Side Trails Project

Chagrin Valley Engineering is thrilled to partner with the Cleveland Metroparks as a Project Engineer on the RAISE East Side Trails Project.

The 2023 RAISE East Side Trails project advances implementation of four (4) priority trail projects identified during 2019 Cuyahoga Greenways planning process. This project will continue engagement to determine the preferred routes and alignment for the projects as well as other design details. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded $950,000 for planning and design through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant. The Cleveland Metroparks recently selected CVE to complete the planning and design of these critical connections which includes four (4) separate trail facilities.

Slavic Village Downtown Connector (SVDC) – This project will connect the existing downtown trail system at East 14th Street and Orange Avenue to the recently completed section of the Slavic Village Downtown Connector at Roseville Court and Broadway Avenue through the installation of approximately 1.50 miles of new roadside trails. The alignment will largely use Broadway Avenue through the implementation of a road diet to create space for the new trail facility. The project includes detailed trail design, roadway design, traffic studies, drainage design, bridge modification design to progress plans to final PS&E.  Future phases of the SVDC will connect the trail to the Morgana Run Trail and Washington Park Reservation.

Opportunity Corridor Connector – This project will connect the recently completed Opportunity Corridor Trail to the newly constructed Slavic Village Downtown Connector.  This project is exploring various routes to make this connection including roadway adjacent routes along East 55th Street and Woodland Avenue as well as an off-road route that would follow the GCRTA Red Line rail tracks. This project is progressing through feasibility studies to determine the preferred route and how it will connect to the SVDC.

Morgan Run/Booth Avenue Extension (MBX) – This project will connect the existing Morgan Run Trail, which terminates at Jones Road to the Mill Creek Falls Area of the Garfield Park Reservation through the installation of approximately 1-mile of new trail.  The trail facilities will be a combination of off road and separated trails and will repurpose the abandoned Norfolk Southern underpass along Booth Road to a trail facility. The alignment will use East 91st Street by narrowing the existing roadway and installing a trail adjacent to the narrowed roadway.  Bridge modifications will be made along Warner Road to widening the existing sidewalk to accommodate the proposed trail.  The project includes detailed trail design, roadway design, drainage design, bridge modification design to progress plans to final PS&E.

Euclid Creek Greenway – This project will connect the Euclid Creek Reservation beachfront to the in-land Euclid Creek Reservation, building on various past phases of implementation.  The project will be taken through feasibility analysis to determine the preferred route alignment and consists of significant public engagement with the North Collinwood neighborhood to understand the benefits and challenges of each preliminary route alignment.
